SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam is a multiple choice objective exam that will be conducted online. SSC exam pattern has been changed in past few years. The Combined Graduate Level Exams are conducted annually by Staff Selection Commission. This Exam consists of four phases, i.e., Tier – I, Tier – II, Tier – III, and Tier – IV, where each phase is required to be cleared depending upon the requirements of various posts.
Tier –I objective exam will be of 60 minutes duration in online mode.
Tier –II objective exam consists of four papers, each will be of 60 minutes in online mode.

The penalty of the Wrong Answer:
Negative marking of 0.50 Marks is applicable for each wrong answer. No marks will be deducted if any question is unanswered by the student.
The exam duration is 80 Minutes for students who are suffering from Cerebral Palsy or if they are visually handicapped.

Here are some methods to ace in the Quantitative Aptitude Section of SSC CGL 2021.
- Cover your Basics: When you are going to begin your preparations, don’t look for short methods. Try to learn the basics of all the chapters and gain in depth knowledge of the topic. Once you have learned these topics, then you can take shortcuts or tricks for easy calculations.
- Manage Your Time: Be sure you have allotted enough time to cover all the important topics in the exam. First, try to focus on your difficult questions and spend more time solving them. Practice those topics in which are easy for you and allocate less time for them. Try to solve questions in a minute, this way you will be able to do more in less time!
- Learn Tricks: To improve your calculation speed, you must focus on the shortcut methods which will save your time for solving tough questions in the exam. To increase your accuracy and speed, try to practice tricks and remember tables, squares, square roots, cubes, etc.

- Improve your Vocabulary: Let’s look at some methods which will help you improve your vocabulary:
Thesaurus: This is an easy way to memorize words. There are a lot of online thesauruses in which a word & its opposite word can be found.
Word Lists: Keep a notebook in which you can note down new words every day. The most important task is you must go through the list regularly.
Online Flashcards: If you use a mobile you can download free online flashcards that may help you in improving your vocab.
- Improve your Grammar: A good understanding of basic Grammar is required for attempting questions from this section – ‘English Language and Comprehension’. These types of questions are common in all competitive exams and mostly come in the form of questions like ‘spotting the errors’. Finding an error in a sentence is a step-by-step process.

- Improve your logical reasoning: This section test student’s ability to use logic and problem-solving skills, therefore it is required by the candidates to sharpen their analytical and logical skills.
- Command over concepts: Both Verbal and Non-Verbal Types of Concepts should be focused on by the students. The understanding of Directions should be perfect, i.e., identifying which direction is West, North, East, and South. Series is the most important chapter, and also very difficult to master.
- Focus on 1 topic at a time: Take one topic at a time, logical reasoning requires you to think in a certain way, and doing various types of topics at the same time will cause confusion.
- Don’t make unnecessary assumptions: Always Remember that, the question given will be solved by the given data only, don’t make unnecessary assumptions while solving the problem. Use smart and appropriate tricks for solving any question.
- Remember Alphabetical Order: Always remember the sequence of alphabets i.e. which alphabet comes after/before the particular alphabet and you should also remember their numerical position of the alphabets.
General Awareness (GA) and General Knowledge (GK) Section
This section is one of the high scoring sections of the SSC CGL Exam. It aims at testing the student’s general awareness and knowledge of current affairs around the world and in India.

- Increase your knowledge: Read magazines, weekly GK blogs, newspapers, and watch news channels for General Knowledge.
- Always create notes: It will help you revise all the chapters which you have learned in SSC CGL Current Affairs. Static GK mainly consists of Culture, Geography (India + World), Indian History, Economy, Environment, and Polity. Instead of reading mindlessly, make notes and mind maps to remember facts, a chronology of events, cause &effect, etc.
- Revise the notes: Revision is necessary for this section. Reading once does not do the job. You have to memorize all the points by reading frequently.
- Focus on an Important topic first: The exam usually has more questions from Static GK than Current Affairs. Therefore, focus more on GK and simultaneously be aware of Current Affairs. Also, try to prepare the subjects in the following chronology:
